We are looking for a Fashion Accessories Creative Studio Assistant to join our team.

RJ Leather Studio is a fashion accessories sewing school and manufacturer of handbags and leather goods. We are looking for a studio assistant to help with the day-to-day running of the studio. The job role is diverse and you will be assisting with the sewing school and manufacturing. Jobs will include, creating new handbag designs, choosing colours, selecting materials, drafting patterns, cutting leather and fabric, preparing leather, embossing, studio organization, preparing kits, researching and contacting suppliers, stock checking for lessons and preparing for lessons. You will need to be hard working, focused and enjoy working with your hands. The job would suit someone who has an interest in fashion accessories and making.

You’ll work at least 25 hours a week, and may need to work longer hours and weekends to meet deadlines. You’ll usually work in our studio, but you may need to travel to assist with POP UP courses in other locations. You may also go on research trips to visit art galleries, trade shows, or particular places linked to a design theme.

• Creating prototypes and mock up accessories designs, Cutting leather and preparing for construction, Embossing and dye cutting leather, Sourcing fabrics and trimmings, Creating mood, shape and trend boards, Working closely with suppliers, Participating in meetings with clients, Inspecting products during the design process, preparing home learning kits, stock checking, Preparing paperwork for lessons.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications:

* A-LEVEL OR BA in the Arts or Design
* An eye for design, colour and attentions to detail
* Excellent work ethic
* Excellent communication with clients and suppliers
* Basic pattern cutting skills could be beneficial but not essential.
