3 Day Leather Handbag Making Course - Intermediate/Advanced - £339


On this three-day course leather handbag making course you will be walked through the techniques required to make a handbag from the designing process to pattern cutting and construction.

You will be introduced to intermediate sewing techniques and you will leave with skills you can use for future bag making projects. 

On this three day course you can create any bag you wish. You can bring with you a selection of images of bags that you like and using these as inspiration you will begin to draw out a design.

Day 1: Information about different types of leather, different handbag shapes and construction. Design bag and choose materials, pattern cutting. Sampling and adjusting pattern if necessary. Cutting leather & linings. 

Day 2: Prepping all pieces ready for assembly. Practicing on machines. Bag Construction.

Day 3: Bag construction, strap assembly, and finishing touches.

We have the option to work with domestic or industrial machines depending on what material you have chosen to create your design. 

Experience of using a sewing machine is advised for this course.

This course is £339, you can break the payment down into installments. If you would like to do this please email us directly 


What To Bring

We know that buying leather and components can be a little overwhelming so we have the option for us to provide the materials for you £60, you can purchase the materials package here: 3 or 4 day materials package

Or alternatively, you are bringing your own materials. If you are buying new leather please make sure that it is not too thick, no more than 1mm. We have attached links of recommended new leather and component suppliers in London. If you want to use recycled materials the best places to source are ebay and charity shops. Look for old garments that you can deconstruct and use. We recommend that you bring with you all components and fastenings to finish your bag, we have a selection of basic zips and components in stock if required.

6sq ft of leather for the outside of the bag

1m x 1m of fabric for the inside of the bag

Please also bring any trimmings that you might want to use to decorate the design.

Timetable, Booking & Time
To view our timetable click here. All our courses are run in parallel, so you may be making something different to other students on the day. This course runs from 10.30am-5pm.  Start time is flexible but it allows people arriving by public transport to get cheaper tickets.
Once you have viewed the timetable and decided which date(s) you would like to attend please click “add to cart” on the course page. During the checkout please write in the dates. 
Capacity & Course times
Our classes are very small (max. 4 students per class) so there is plenty of one-to-one tuition. Courses tend to fill up fast so if your requested course date is already fully booked we will be in touch to discuss alternative dates that suit you.

Tea (&herbal tea) and coffee and biscuits are provided but please bring your own drinking water.

All classes run with a minimum of only 1 person so you can have peace of mind that once you have booked your place you know nothing will change.

On the day:
We will have a half an hour lunch break together so please bring lunch and snacks. Before Covid 19 I used to provide lunch and snacks but for now I have been advised for people to bring their own, which I am sad about as I loved providing this.  Coffee / tea will also be provided but if you would rather bring your own then, of course, are more than welcome.

If you arrive by train it takes roughly 10 minutes to walk from Lancing station to the studio. There is free parking on site.
