Meet Bex

Hi, I’m Rebecca Eaton, founder of RJ Leather Studio in Lancing, West Sussex. I fell in love with leather in 2003 and have been designing and making handbags ever since.

Growing up in a creative, entrepreneurial family, fashion was a natural path for me. I was awarded a first class BA Hons Fashion Womenswear Degree at Bristol UWE, interned at Givenchy Paris, and worked with Luella Bartley, Giles Deacon, and leather expert Paul Seville in London.

In 2008, I launched Rebecca-Jane, an upcycled handbag brand, selling worldwide—mainly in Japan. After creating 5,000+ bags, I started teaching to share my love of leathercraft.

RJ Leather Studio – Sewing School

In-Person Courses (1-4 days) from beginner to advanced, plus 1-to-1 training for those launching a brand, developing samples, prototyping, or creating collections through summer training.

Online Courses – Learn bag-making at home with your domestic sewing machine. We offer online courses, handbag templates, and pre-cut bag-making kits with everything you need to start.
